Introduction

My life partner Carol (Brawny) and I live in a remote corner of the northeast Georgia mountains, only a few miles from the Appalachian Trail. My trailname is "Rainmaker", a name given to me many years ago by some disgruntled fellow hikers who claimed that it rained each time I showed up. Some folks just have NO sense of adventure!

I ended my 17-year career in administrative management at a large financial services company in 1988. To a large degree, I also dropped out of the Real World.

Since that time, I have hiked the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, Long Trail, Colorado Trail, Bartram Trail and John Muir Trail, and I'm section-hiking the Continental Divide Trail. I spent a summer backpacking in Europe, backpacked in Alaska, visited the Redwoods, the Oregon coast, and made several extended hiking trips to the U.S. and Canadian Rockies.

Expanding my horizons a bit, I have become interested in scuba diving and I'm certified with Scuba Diving International as a Master Scuba Diver. I've made dive trips to Florida springs, the Florida Keys, Bahamas, Honduras, Belize and Mexico. I also dive locally (spring through fall) at Lake Jocassee, SC. Brawny and I founded and jointly operate the TrailQuest Web site. In my spare time I hike, backpack, scuba dive, take photos, perform trail maintenance and plan the next adventure.
